Veterinarians now have an additional tool available to help prevent periodontitis in our canine patients. Pfizer Animal Health has a new Dental Vaccine that gives us one more opportunity to optimize your dog's oral health. This vaccine does not take the place of routine teeth cleaning, but it does help build the immune system to fight off bacteria that cause periodontal disease.
We now have this vaccine in stock. This vaccine is not recommended for all dogs, only those that are at risk based on their small size (dogs under 25 lbs) or breed. We feel it will be helpful for those individuals with a higher risk of periodontitis especially some of the toy breeds.
